The Basics of Middleware

by | Mar 8, 2018

Middleware is a general term for software that serves to “glue together” on premise or cloud-based systems so they can work together seamlessly. In simple terms middleware connects software to other software to help fully integrate processes by solving application challenges, data issues and other difficulties of business process integration.

There are also manual alternatives to middleware that some organizations use, which can be a great fit. On the other hand, for more complex organizations, with a lot more data, this option may be too strenuous. In the case of FieldFX, integrations with payroll and invoicing software are key to unlocking the most value from the solution. Middleware can connect FieldFX to ERP and CRM systems; resulting in streamlined business processes like quote-to-cash and inventory management, while simplifying communication channels.

A middleware is not required for a FieldFX implementation. However, if an organization’s end goal is streamlined, automated processes then middleware is often the best option.
